Crispy Adobo Fried Tofu (Vegan)

Ingredients:

-1 block extra firm tofu

-3 Tb ground flax seed

-9 Tb water

-1/2 Cup all purpose flour

-2 Tb Adobo seasoning

-2 Tb nutritional yeast

-1 Cup vegetable oil, for frying


How To:

1. Remove tofu from packaging and press for 15 minutes to remove excess liquid.

2. Combine ground flax and water by whisking. Set in fridge to firm up for about 5 minutes.

3. In a shallow bowl combine flour, adobo seasoning, and nutritional yeast.

4. Once the tofu is pressed cut in half long ways and then into thirds and thirds again to net 18 squares.

5. One at a time, dip the tofu squares into the flax egg mixture and then the flour mixture to bread.

6. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. You'll know it's ready for frying when you can spritz in a few drops of water and the oil bubbles in response.

7. Fry the tofu in batches, about 2 minutes per side or until golden.

8. Remove from the oil and immediately place on a paper towel lined dish and salt generously while hot.
